For nig-ey

the sun was high
and the sky was bright
the day we met
when we were ten.
We laughed, joked and played pranks on others
we wrote, drew and sang songs together
i think we even liked the same girl.
Yet, when we were together
it was his shadow casted over my shoulder
and people said i was a follower
but who'd care?
for he was the best friend i'd have.
As we grow older i must say
we drifted apart in our ways.
He was the better and the best
in each and every single test
and i was a sucker
for i played and played
and the day came
and we were no longer classmates.
Despite the differences
we still got stuck to each other
though not that closely.
And it has finally come down to this day
the sun still that high
the sky still so bright
and us still us alike
on the day we left high school together.
